The USAMV IaÅŸi coordinated during the last years many multidisciplinary research regarding vineyard ecosystems. The main objectives of these researches were : the analysis of Romanian viticultural ecosystems adaptation to the new conditions determined by global warming (POSCCE-A2-O2.1.2-2009-2 ID.653 funded by ERDF ; 2010-2013) ; promoting sustainable viticulture in the north-eastern part of Romania (ID 1141- 1100/2009 funded by the Ministry of Education ; 2009-2011) ; the fine-scale analysis of the thermal regime of Cotnari vineyard using Tynitag data loggers and GIS (USAMV in collaboration with Romanian Academy and UMR 6554 LETG, CNRS Rennes) ; the development of a GIS based methodology to establish the viticultural potential spatial distribution in the vineyards within temperate climate areas (USAMV in collaboration with Romanian Academy and UMR 6554 LETG, CNRS Rennes). Research in the projects regarding viticultural ecosystems adaptation to the climate change allowed data records regarding : the impact of unfavorable climatic factors on the physiological processes and phenological phases of the grapevine ; the study of ecophysiological reactions of vine varieties under stress conditions ; the composition of wines obtained under climatic stress. Terroir studies allowed us to develop a GIS based evaluation system of viticultural potential, integrating the influence of 15 parameters representing the relief, soil and climate of vineyards from temperate climate areas. As results, high-resolution maps revealing the distribution in the vineyards of the viticultural potential conditioning the production of different types of wines have been achieved. Such maps were developed for romanian vineyards HuÅŸi, Bucium and recently for UrlaÅ£i wine-growing centre-Dealul Mare vineyard. Also using GIS and Tynitag data loggers were developed high resolution maps of spatial distribution of the frost risk in Cotnari vineyard and of the potential damages that it could determine.
