UMR6554LETG of the CNRS

The UMR 6554 Coast, Environment, Remote Sensing and Geomatics (UMR LETG) associates 5 research groups that are based in the Universities of Bretagne Occidentale, Caen, Nantes, Rennes 2 and Angers. The label UMR - Mix Research Unit - stands for the research unit that associates both university and the CNRS. The geographical diversity of the UMR LETG is characteristic and coherent to ground geographical knowledge and practices in the west of France. Each group complements the others to study and reflect upon the whole range of spatial research issues. This research unit, composed in majority of geographers, and depending of sections 31 and 39 of the CNRS, is part of the Institute of Ecology and Environment (INEE) and the Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences (INSHS).

At the local level, the UMR LETG participates to several contractual projects with universities and other multidisciplinary research centres such as the Ifremer, the Inra, the IRD, the PML-OSUNA in Nantes, the IUEM-OSU in Brest and the MRSH in Caen.

Our research project is supported by two scientific teams, three transversal actions and a network of scientific and technical support brought together around a generic and common research question : the analysis and modelling of complex systems at the interface between nature and society.
